Due
to its strategic location, Foligno
is a very good starting point to visit the main interesting
touristic and religious sites of the Region.
Foligno in one of the most dynamic business and cultural centres
of the Region. The Historical centre lays on a flat land with
a typical "egg" shape, develoving around the system
of the two central squares. Many important Mediaeval and Renaissance
monuments are inserted in the building fabric of the city,
dated from the XVI to the XIX Centuries.
The town took on its modern look with the transformations
of the last one hundred years, conforming the urban structure
to the fundamental functions of industrial, commercial and
managerial site.
Every year, during the months of June and September, an important
event takes place: the
"GIOSTRA DELLA QUINTANA", that recalls a
Competition of the XVII Century.
We
call your attention on some of the main monuments to visit
in Foligno:
Duomo
- The Cathedral. showing different building stages
and periods, from Romanesque to Neoclassical, with a magnificent
portal of the XIII Century.
Palazzo
Trinci - Trinci's Palace. one of the most beautiful
residence of the late gothic period in Central Italy. It is
famous for its frescoes of the XV Century.
Oratorio
della Nunziatella - Nunziatella's Oratory. with
two frescoes by Il Perugino and a small Museum of Printing
(Museo della Stampa), documenting the Foligno's typographical
art of the XV Century.

Maria Infraportas. In the Chapel of the Assunta,
there are some frescoes of the XII Century.
